Supporting council improvement – 2022/23 highlights

This year in review of the programmes that made up our sector support offer in 2022/23 provides a snapshot of the ways we supported councils to improve, develop leadership, make data-informed decisions, share notable practice, and – in so doing – build capacity and capability in local government.

Communications and engagement

It is key that councils communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, from MPs and voluntary sector organisations to employers and members of the public. This can manifest in a range of different ways from top-down communications to complete co-production.

Equality, diversity and inclusion

The themes under the UKSPF can support councils to embed equality, diversity and inclusion and tackle local inequalities, increase opportunities and improve public services for those living in poverty and furthest away from the jobs market.
