Fire peer challenge training

Interested in becoming a fire officer peer or, as an existing peer, refreshing your skills and understanding of what is involved?

Interested in becoming a fire officer peer or, as an existing peer, refreshing your skills and understanding of what is involved?

As the number of fire peer challenges being undertaken continues to increase, the Chief Fire Officers Association and the LGA are keen to ensure that the pool of officer peers available to deliver them grows accordingly and that those involved have the up-to-date understanding and skills necessary to provide the quality challenge that Fire and Rescue Services rightly expect.

With this in mind, we ran a series of regionally-based one day training sessions in March and April 2016.  We are now looking to deliver further sessions on an ‘as and when basis' according to demand. If you are interested in undertaking training either as an existing peer or as somebody considering becoming one, please let us know by emailing Emily McGuinness.

The sessions will place an emphasis on practical preparation for delivering peer challenge, including:

  • an overview of how the process runs
  • looking at case studies
  • role-playing.

They will act as both refresher training and the means for potential peers to decide if peer challenge is for them.
