The Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner and other resources

The Commissioner and Nottingham University’s Rights Lab have produced a modern slavery partnership toolkit.

Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner

The Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner’s Office, in collaboration with the Rights Lab at the University of Nottingham, has developed an online toolkit to help local organisations and agencies work better together to tackle modern slavery. The toolkit is dynamic and free to use and includes:

  • a partnership checklist
  • a governance library
  • downloadable resources
  • reports and legislation
  • a UK training library.

The Anti-Slavery Commissioner has also made a range of videos on modern slavery, including for local government and the emergency services. More information is also available on the commissioner's website

The Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner and the National Crime Agency outlined the role that councils and local leaders can play with their partners at the National Children’s and Adults Services Conference in October 2017.

The Human Trafficking Foundation has produced several resources that seek to help local authorities improve their response to human trafficking and modern slavery, in particular the identification and support offered to adult survivors.

Raising awareness of and training in roles and responsibilities around modern slavery is crucial. The Government has developed a training resources webpage. It will be updated as and when new information or resources come to light.

The Clewer Initiative Safe Car Wash app

Earlier in 2018 the Clewer Initiative launched their Safe Car Wash app which will enable communities to share intelligence on potential instances of modern slavery at car washes.

Unseen Modern Slavery App

In 2018 the Unseen group also launched their Modern Slavery app in partnership with BT. The app helps members of the public identify signs of modern slavery and makes it easier for them to report to the authorities.
